This summer, Roush Fenway Racing driver Carl Edwards will take the wheel of the second of two specially-designed race cars designed by Thunderbird Creative Media.
Edwards will pilot the #60 Planters Ford Fusion for Roush Fenway Racing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Carfax 250 at Michigan International Raceway on August 16th. The bold blue-and-yellow paint scheme features the new Planters logo as well as the ever-recognizable Mr. Peanut on a "throwback" design for Roush Fenway.
"The paint scheme actually is a reverse of Johnny Benson's #26 Cheerios car from 1998," said Thunderbird designer Tony Johns. "It is a nice touch for Roush Fenway to give a nod to their history while rolling out a new special sponsorship."
The Planters program is the second Kraft Foods special-paint rollout involving Roush Fenway Racing this season. Matt Kenseth wheeled the #17 Ritz/Kraft Brands Ford Fusion to a top-five finish at the Nationwide Series season opener at Daytona in February. In addition to concept design and vinyl preparation on both race cars, Thunderbird also designed the drivers' uniforms as well as special-event hero cards.
The Kraft Foods programs are a continuation of a successful partnership between Thunderbird and North Carolina-based Keystone Marketing, which manages special racing programs and trackside events for the brand. Previous collaborations include last year's nationwide Greg Biffle/OREO Double Stuf marketing program, special Kraft Foods paint schemes and uniforms for former Roush Fenway driver Mark Martin, and mobile marketing trailers for both the OREO Double Stuf Lick Race and Kraft Foods.
